Men's Yellow Gym Shorts – Aesthetic Retro Cut
The Aesthetic in yellow is a pair of lightweight men's training shorts in thin polyester, with black contrast piping and the Gym Generation lettering embroidered in black. Cut short and close to the body, with an elastic waistband and drawcord, two side pockets and a sewn-in mesh liner. Available in sizes S to XL.
This is the body-hugging aesthetic cut of the golden era of bodybuilding. Gym Generation has been a Swiss gymwear brand since 2013; the Aesthetic is the short retro pair in the range, made for leg and bodybuilding work on warm days.
The aesthetic cut, in the colour of the era
These shorts are deliberately cut short and close to the body – the look that came out of the aesthetic and Zyzz era in bodybuilding, which leaves the thigh and the quads on show. Yellow is the shade most people picture when they think of it. The black piping along the sides, the pockets and the curved leg hem sets a hard edge against it, and the Gym Generation lettering sits embroidered in black at the bottom of the leg.
Thin polyester with a mesh liner
The fabric is thin enough that you stop noticing it a few sets in, and it dries fast when the session runs warm. Sewn inside is a mesh liner for support and airflow – on a cut this short, that second part matters more than it would on a knee-length pair. Two side pockets take keys and small items, and the drawcord sets the waist.
Yellow training shorts that get seen
Strong yellow with black piping is the loudest colour in the Aesthetic range, and on a squat rack it is impossible to miss. Yellow is what people look at first, which is either the point or the reason to pick something else. If you want something quieter, the Aesthetic also comes in black, blue and red.
Yellow Gym Shorts – Frequently Asked Questions
Is the yellow bright or muted?
Bright. It is a strong, saturated yellow with black piping for contrast – the colour of the era, not a washed-out mustard. If that is more than you want, the black version is the quiet one.
Does the yellow stay bright after washing?
Wash at 30°C inside out and keep them out of the tumble dryer. Heat is what dulls a saturated colour on polyester; treated cool, the yellow holds.
Do they show sweat marks?
Less than you might expect on a bright colour, because the polyester dries quickly rather than holding moisture. On a hard leg session you will see it, as with any light shade.
Can you wear them without the liner?
The liner is stitched into the shorts, so there is no taking it out. It is what gives the cut its support, and most people wear the shorts exactly as they come.
How does the sizing run?
Short and close through the leg, by design rather than by accident. Go by your usual size and use the drawcord at the waist; if you want more room at the thigh, take the next size up.
Are these swim shorts?
No. The mesh liner is built for support and airflow in training, not for the water – these belong in the gym, not the pool.
