Men's Red Aesthetic Gym Shorts – Retro Cut
The Aesthetic in red are lightweight men's training shorts in thin polyester, with black contrast piping and the Gym Generation lettering embroidered in black. Cut short and close to the body, with an elastic waistband and drawcord, two side pockets and a sewn-in mesh liner. Available in sizes S to XL.
This is the body-hugging aesthetic cut that came out of bodybuilding's golden era, here in red. Gym Generation has been a Swiss gymwear brand since 2013; the Aesthetic is the short retro pair in the range, made for leg and bodybuilding work on warm days.
A hem that sits high on the thigh
These red gym shorts are cut deliberately short, leaving the thigh and the quads on show. The curved leg hem and the black piping along the sides and pockets are what make them read as retro rather than just brief. The Gym Generation lettering sits embroidered in black at the bottom of the leg.
Lightweight polyester that dries between sets
The fabric is thin enough that you stop noticing it once the session warms up, and it dries quickly afterwards. A mesh liner is sewn in for support, which is what makes a cut this short wearable without anything underneath. Two side pockets take keys and small items, and the drawcord sets the waist.
Red with black contrast piping
Strong red with black piping puts a clear marker down in a room full of grey and black kit. These are the red training shorts you wear when you do not mind being looked at. The black trim gives the colour an edge to sit against, so it does not read as one solid block.
Aesthetic Gym Shorts – Frequently Asked Questions
Why are these shorts cut so short?
That is the aesthetic cut: short and close to the body so the thigh and quads stay visible – the shape that came out of the aesthetic and Zyzz era in bodybuilding. It also wears a good deal lighter than a knee-length gym short.
Which colour should I pick?
All four are the same short in different colours, so it comes down to how much attention you want. Red sits in the upper half – louder than blue, a step below yellow, and a long way from black, which is the plain one in the range.
Does the red fade?
Wash at 30°C inside out and keep them out of the tumble dryer – heat is what dulls a strong colour on polyester. Treated that way the red stays where it is.
Can you wear them without the liner?
The liner is sewn in, so it is not going anywhere. Most people wear the shorts exactly as they come; on a heavy leg session, compression shorts underneath sit well with this cut.
How does the sizing run?
They run short and close by design. Our model is 183 cm and 90 kg and wears M. The drawcord adjusts the waist; if you want more room at the leg, go a size up.
