Wrist Wraps for the Gym – Wrist Support with Thumb Loop
The Gym Generation wrist wraps support your wrist during heavy pressing movements: 25 cm long wraps in a cotton-elastic weave that you fix with the thumb loop and wind as tightly as you need with the wide hook-and-loop strap. As wrist wraps or wrist bands for gym, fitness and strength training, they hold the wrist in a stable position when it gets pushed back under load during bench presses, shoulder presses or dips. On in seconds, and just as quickly released between sets. One size, sold as a pair, for men and women.
The wrist wraps suit strength training, bodybuilding, weightlifting and calisthenics, supporting the wrist wherever it gets pushed back under load. Developed by Gym Generation, Swiss brand for training and strength gear since 2013. Shipped from Switzerland.
Stability During Heavy Pressing
During bench presses, shoulder presses and dips, the load hits the hand in a way that tips the wrist backwards. The heavier the weight, the stronger that pull. The wrap lays a firm cuff around the joint and keeps it closer to a neutral position, so the force runs straight through forearm and hand. That gives you a more stable feeling under the bar and more control in the heavy sets.
Thumb Loop and Hook-and-Loop Closure
The thumb loop fixes the wrap while you put it on, so it does not shift as you wind: loop over the thumb, lead the wrap firmly around the wrist, close the strap, slip the loop off again. How firm the support sits is up to you and how tightly you wind, from lightly supportive for high-rep sets to firm for heavy singles. Between sets you loosen them in one movement.
25 cm Length: Short Enough for Fast Changes
At 25 cm per wrap, these wrist wraps sit in the middle range: long enough for several turns and a firm hold, short enough to put on and take off quickly between exercises. Longer powerlifting wraps give more support, but take noticeably longer to put on and often sit too stiff for regular gym training.
Cotton-Elastic Weave
The weave of half cotton, half elastic material combines two qualities: the cotton sits comfortably on the skin and absorbs sweat, while the elastic share lets the wrap give under tension and still stay taut. It never cuts in, and it keeps its tension across many sessions.
Wrist Support for Fitness, Strength Training and Bodybuilding
As wrist support for gym and fitness, they come out wherever weight gets pressed: in classic strength training on the bench and overhead, in bodybuilding at high volume, in weightlifting in the front rack and in calisthenics in support positions. If you also want to relieve your grip on pulling movements, combine them with power grips; if you want palm protection and wrist support in one piece, you will find it in the leather gym gloves with integrated wrist wrap.
Wrist Wraps – Frequently Asked Questions
Are wrist wraps worth it for the gym?
For heavy pressing, yes. They hold the wrist in a more stable position when it gets pushed back under load, giving you more control during bench presses, shoulder presses and dips. For light sets and warm-ups you do not need them, and if you want to build wrist strength deliberately, train part of your sessions without. If you have existing wrist complaints, talk to a doctor or physiotherapist instead of covering them with a wrap.
How do I put wrist wraps on correctly?
Pull the thumb loop over your thumb, set the wrap directly above the wrist and wind it firmly around the joint, keeping the hand slightly extended. Then close the hook-and-loop strap and slip the thumb loop off so it does not bother you during training. The wrap should sit firm without cutting off circulation. Loosen between sets.
How tight should wrist wraps be?
Tight enough that the wrist feels clearly supported, without the hand tingling or going cold. For high-rep and lighter sets a loose wind is enough; for heavy singles you pull tighter. Because you control the support through the wind, the same wraps cover both cases.
Wrist wraps or gloves with wrist support?
These wraps support only the wrist and leave the hand completely free, which gives more bar feel and more flexibility. Gloves with an integrated wrist wrap combine palm protection and support in one piece, but are less variable. If you only need the wrist support, the wraps are the better pick.
Which exercises do I need wrist wraps for?
Above all pressing movements: bench press, incline press, shoulder press, military press and dips. Then front squats and cleans, where the wrist gets extended in the front rack, and support positions in calisthenics like handstands or planche progressions.
Are the wraps suitable for men and women?
Yes. The wraps come in one size and adjust to any wrist circumference via the hook-and-loop closure.
How do I wash the wrist wraps?
Wash cold by hand and let them air dry, no tumble dryer and no radiator. That keeps the elasticity and the closure intact. Let them air out open between sessions.
