Men's Black Cargo Gym Shorts Maverick – Cotton Sweat Shorts

The Maverick in black are men's cargo gym shorts made from a dense sweat fabric with 80% cotton and 20% polyester, brushed on the inside. The elastic waistband pulls in with a black drawcord finished with engraved stainless-steel tips. Two open side pockets sit at the hips, and two patch cargo pockets sit on the thighs, closed by a flap and press stud. The Gym Generation logo is embroidered in white at the front of the thigh. Depending on the size, the shorts finish around knee length and are available from S to XL in a regular fit.

Four pockets, two of them with a flap

The two side pockets at the hips are open, for whatever needs to stay within reach during a session. On the thighs sit two patch cargo pockets, 20 × 16 cm each, closed by a flap and press stud. A phone, keys and cards all fit, which is why the Maverick works as an everyday short and not only for the walk to the gym.

Dense cotton sweat with a brushed inside

The cotton-polyester blend is knitted considerably tighter than the fabric of a light summer short. Cotton is what you feel against the skin, while the 20% polyester holds the shape. On the inside the fabric is brushed, which makes it soft to the touch without the visible loops of French terry. Gym Generation has been making training wear in Switzerland since 2013, and the Maverick is our cargo short in that dense sweat fabric.

Knee length with a regular fit

Depending on the size, the Maverick finishes around knee level and sits loose enough on the leg not to pull through squats, lunges or the leg press. The legs are cleanly hemmed at the bottom. The waistband is elastic, and the drawcord takes it in as far as you want.

What is the difference between the Maverick and the Cargo Gym Shorts?
Fabric and hardware. The Maverick is the heavier of the two: a dense cotton-polyester sweat, brushed inside, with an embroidered logo, flap-and-press-stud cargo pockets and stainless-steel tips on the drawcord. The Cargo Gym Shorts are 100% cotton, thinner in the fabric and printed rather than embroidered – lighter on the skin and the pick for warm days.

Maverick or the Classic in black?
The fabric is the same on both: 80% cotton, 20% polyester, brushed inside. What differs is the hem and the storage. The Workout Shorts Classic in black finish in an open raw-cut hem with two side pockets; the Maverick is hemmed and adds two cargo pockets. Take the Classic for the raw-cut look, the Maverick for the extra storage and a clean finish at the leg.

Do the cargo pockets get in the way during training?
No. The leg pockets are flat patch pockets and sit on the side of the thigh, not at the knee. The flap and press stud hold the contents in place. For floor work, take your phone out anyway.

How do the Maverick Cargo Shorts fit?
Regular, in sizes S to XL. In most cases you can take your usual size, and the drawcord adjusts the width from there.
