Black Leather Gym Gloves – Perforated Palm, Open Fingers
The Gym Generation leather training gloves in black have a perforated suede palm for grip and airflow, and a closed leather back. As gym gloves they keep the palm off the knurling at the bar and the dumbbell, while the open fingers leave you full movement. 80% leather, unisex, sizes S to XL, with a wide Velcro closure at the wrist. Made for strength training, barbell work, calisthenics and training outdoors.
Developed by Gym Generation, a Swiss brand for training and strength gear since 2013.
Why the Palm Is Perforated
A leather palm holds well and shuts air out, which is fine until the session gets long and the hand starts to sweat. The perforation solves that: small holes across the whole gripping surface let heat and moisture escape while the suede underneath still sits against the bar. You get the hold of leather without the glove turning damp inside by set six. Under the suede sits a layer of foam, placed where the bar presses on the heel of the hand.
A Closed Leather Back for Training Outdoors
This glove has a closed leather back with elastic knit panels across the knuckles. The leather protects the back of the hand and keeps its hold on cold bars outdoors, and the knit panels give as you close your fingers. That makes it the one to take for calisthenics in the park, winter training, and anything that happens outside.
The Wide Velcro Closure
The wide Velcro band pulls the glove tight in a continuous range, so you set the fit at the wrist yourself – loose for light sets, firm for heavy ones. The logo tab stands proud enough that you can open the closure with the other glove still on your hand. Together with the elastane in the material the glove sits firm without pinching.
Leather Gym Gloves – Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference to your other black leather gloves?
The palm. This pair is perforated across the whole gripping surface for airflow, which is what makes it the choice for sweaty sessions and outdoor bars. The leather gloves with a built-in wrap have a solid palm and a 35 cm wrist wrap you wind around the joint, for pressing work where you want the wrist supported.
Will I still get calluses?
Less, not none. The glove takes the direct friction of the knurling off the palm, which is where most calluses start, but the skin still works under load and hands that train hard will build some. What changes is that they build more evenly, without the raw spots that come from a bare grip on a rough bar.
Do they support the wrist?
No. The Velcro closure holds the glove in place at the wrist – it does nothing for the joint itself. If you want the wrist held on pressing work, add separate wrist wraps or take the leather model with the wrap built in.
What size do I take?
They run true to size, and the size is set by your measured hand circumference, not by gender. If you fall between two sizes, take the smaller one – leather gives a little with wear. The exact measurements are in the size chart on this page.
Can I wash them?
Not in the machine. Wipe them down after training and let them air dry, off the radiator, so the leather stays supple. If you want gloves you can put in the machine, the padded microfibre gloves wash at 30°C.
