Padded Gym Gloves – Amara Microfibre, Machine Washable
The Gym Generation padded gloves are gym gloves in breathable Amara microfibre with raised foam pads over the knuckles and red contrast stitching. As training gloves they keep pressure and friction off the hand at the bar and the dumbbell, while the open fingers leave you full movement. The microfibre is light, machine washable and dries fast, and the short elastic cuff means you slip them on in seconds – there is no Velcro strap to fasten. Unisex, sizes S to XL, sold as a pair.
Developed by Gym Generation, a Swiss brand for training and strength gear since 2013.
Raised Foam Over the Knuckles
The heart of this glove is the thick foam sitting on the back of the hand and over the knuckles, framed by red contrast stitching. It cushions the pressure of the bar, the dumbbell and the kettlebell exactly where the load meets the hand. Unlike a flat glove, this one puts a layer you can feel between the grip and the bone – which tells on heavy sets and on high rep counts.
Amara Microfibre You Can Machine Wash
The shell is Amara, a hard-wearing synthetic suede microfibre. It is noticeably lighter than leather, breathable, and holds its shape when it gets sweaty. The everyday advantage: these go in the machine at 30°C, rather than being wiped down and hoped for. The terry inner face takes up sweat and doubles as something to wipe your forehead on between sets.
Textured Palm and Open Fingers
The microfibre palm gives you a secure hold on bars, dumbbells and machine handles, including when your hands get damp. The open fingers leave you a direct feel for the weight and full movement, and small pull-off tabs let you strip the glove after a set. The short elastic cuff means you are in them in seconds, with nothing to adjust.
Padded Gym Gloves – Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I wash them?
Every week or two under normal use, and sooner if you train daily. They go in the machine at 30°C, which is the advantage over leather gloves – those can only be wiped down. Air dry afterwards, off the radiator, so the foam keeps its shape.
Do they support the wrist?
No. These protect the hand; the cuff is short and elastic and does nothing for the joint. If you press heavy and want the wrist held, either add separate wrist wraps or take the leather gloves, which have a 35 cm wrap built in.
How do they compare to leather gloves?
These are lighter, airier and washable, which suits fast, sweaty sessions and daily use. Leather is more hard-wearing and moulds to the hand over time. If you want low weight and easy care, take these; for heavy pressing with wrist support, take the leather.
Does the fingerless design cost me grip?
No, the opposite. The open fingers give you a direct feel for the bar and the handle and full movement, while the palm stays protected and textured.
What size do I take?
They run true to size and adapt through the elastic material. Measure your hand circumference and compare it against the size chart on this page – the size follows the measurement, not your gender.
