No Pain No Gain – the Oldest Line in Strength Training
The phrase is not a fitness invention: "No pains, no gains" appears as early as 1648 in the English poetry collection Hesperides by Robert Herrick, and Benjamin Franklin popularised the formula in 1758 in The Way to Wealth. Through the fitness wave of the early 1980s it became the mantra of the training world – and in bodybuilding, the guiding line above all others. On this towel it sits exactly where it belongs: next to you on the bench, on every set.
500 GSM Cotton Terry, Absorbent and With Grip
The towel is made from 100% cotton in a woven terry structure at 500 GSM – heavy and absorbent enough for intensive sessions, but light enough to dry quickly instead of sitting soaked in your backpack. That is what gives this fitness towel grip rather than slip. The edge is bound all the way round and reinforced with polyester, so it holds its shape and does not fray.
A Woven Relief Instead of a Print
The Gym Generation Spartan logo is worked directly into the fabric as a relief, tonal on black terry – you see it in the light and feel it under your hand. Below it sits the grey band with the embroidered No Pain · No Gain lettering. Not a printed motif that flakes off after a few washes, but properly worked textile craft.

At 50 × 100 cm, this gym towel hits exactly the size that works in the gym: big enough to cover a bench or machine completely – a hygiene rule in many gyms anyway – and compact enough not to be dragged along like half a bath sheet. How do I wash the gym towel properly?
Machine wash at 30 to 40°C, without fabric softener – it settles on the cotton fibres and reduces absorbency over time. Not in the tumble dryer. Pure cotton can shrink minimally on the first wash, which is normal for natural fibres.
