Grey Gym Beanie – Fine Knit with a Wide Cuff

The Gym Beanie in grey is finely knitted rather than chunky ribbed, so it lies flat on the head and adds almost no bulk. The yarn is a marl, with lighter and darker fibres twisted into the same thread, which gives the knit depth instead of one flat surface. A black patch with a gold logo sits at the front.

Grey marl with a black patch

On a black beanie the patch merges into the knit. On grey it does not: the black square reads as a clear shape against the marl yarn, and so does the gold on it. That is the whole difference between the two colours, the same beanie with the logo showing or not.

A flat knit under a hood

A fine knit builds up less than a coarse rib. In practice that means you can pull a hood over the top without the beanie travelling with it or bunching above the forehead. It also stays put while you warm up.

Two heights from one cuff

The cuff is wide enough to fold in different ways. Folded narrow, more of the body is left standing, so the beanie sits lower and covers the ears completely. Folded wide, it ends just above them. The knit pulls back together after every wear, so both settings hold all day.

Grey for training and the rest of the day

Grey is the colour you do not have to think about in the morning. It works with black, navy and olive and with whatever training kit you already own, and the beanie is light enough to keep on after a session.

Frequently asked questions

How dark is the grey?
A mid grey, marled. Clearly lighter than charcoal and clearly darker than a pale grey. The marl makes it read slightly warmer or cooler depending on the light.

How visible is the patch?
Clearly visible. If you want the logo as discreet as possible, the same beanie in black is the better choice, where the patch disappears into the knit.

What is the difference from the Atlantic?
The knit and the thickness. This one is finely knitted and lies flat, while the Atlantic in grey is a chunky rib and noticeably thicker. This is the training beanie, the Atlantic is the winter one.

What size is the beanie?
One size. The knit stretches a long way and adapts to narrow and broad heads without pinching. The height is set by how wide you fold the cuff.

When is another beanie the better choice?
If you stand still in freezing temperatures for long stretches, a thicker winter beanie will keep you warmer. And if a visible logo bothers you, grey is the wrong colour here, because the patch is meant to stand out.

You can find the other models under gym caps and beanies.
