These boxing gloves are made from genuine cowhide leather, black all over, with white Warrior lettering on the back of the hand. They are built with a closed fist and an attached thumb, and a wide Velcro strap secures the wrist. Available in four weights from 8 to 14 oz, sold as a pair.

Genuine Cowhide Leather Upper

Cowhide behaves differently from PU synthetic leather once a glove sees regular use. Synthetic leather cracks at the flex points over the knuckles and comes apart at the seams, while leather gives and shapes itself to your fist. These black boxing gloves feel stiff in week one and better by month six.

Wide Velcro Wrist Strap

The strap reaches well past the wrist and wraps around in one wide pass instead of being cinched with a narrow band. That spreads the pull across its full width and keeps your wrist in line with your forearm when the punch lands.

Four Weights from 8 to 14 oz

The ounce figure refers to the weight of the padding, not the size of your hand. An 8 oz glove is quicker and gives you more feedback from the bag, while a 14 oz glove absorbs more and takes more strength to control.

Perforated Palm

The palm is perforated with small ventilation holes. Each time you open your hand, air moves through the glove instead of staying trapped inside. A closed boxing glove is still a closed glove, though – after long rounds, leave it open to dry rather than zipping it into your bag.

Which weight should I choose?
For bag and pad work alone, 8 to 10 oz is enough. As soon as you spar with a partner, go for 12 or 14 oz – the extra padding is there to protect your partner, not you. If you want one pair that covers both, 12 oz is the best choice.

Are these gloves suitable for MMA?
For striking, yes. For grappling and clinch work, no – the closed fist doesn't give you enough mobility. If you need your fingers free, the MMA gloves are the right choice. If you want gloves you can slip on and off without Velcro, go for the bag gloves.

What else do I need?
Always wear hand wraps under boxing gloves. For partner training, add pads: a pair of focus mitts for punch combinations and the kick pad for kicks and knees. You'll find the rest of the range under martial arts equipment.
