Spartan USA Patch - Hook and Loop

Spartan USA Patch – Spartan Helmet and US Flag, Split Diagonally

The Spartan USA patch from Gym Generation is an embroidered Spartan Velcro patch, approx. 8 × 5 cm, split diagonally: the US flag in blue, red and white top left, a white Spartan helmet over crossed swords on a black ground bottom right.

Two Designs on One Patch

The diagonal runs from the top right to the bottom left corner and splits the patch into two triangles – the flag with its stars and stripes above, the helmet on plain black below. Placed side by side, the two would clash: the stripes are busy, and the helmet needs a solid field. The diagonal gives each element its own zone and still holds the patch together as one image.

Helmet and Crossed Swords

The Spartan helmet is recognisable by its closed skull, nose guard and cheek pieces – the Corinthian helmet, worn from the 7th century BC and still shaping the image of the ancient warrior today. Below it lie two crossed swords, a classic sign of arms and combat. Both are embroidered in white, so the outlines read as clearly as possible against the black ground.

Hook Backing in the Standard 8 × 5 cm Format

The hook backing grips any loop surface: MOLLE backpacks with a loop field, loop panels on vests and jackets, caps with a loop front, gym bags with a patch panel. Our gym backpacks come with the panel built in. At 8 × 5 cm, this is the most common patch size of all, so it fits practically any existing panel. More designs are in the hook and loop patches collection.

Spartan USA Patch FAQ

Is this a military insignia?
No. The patch combines two unrestricted designs – the US flag and the ancient Spartan helmet – and belongs to no unit. It's on open sale and is worn as a design on gear.

Do the flag colours stay strong?
Yes. The colour is in the embroidery thread rather than a coating, so nothing can flake off. The red and blue are embroidered edge to edge over the base fabric, so the black ground doesn't show through.

Does the patch hold on any bag?
Only on surfaces with a loop counterpart. It won't stick to smooth fabric without a loop panel – there, you can add a self-adhesive or sew-on loop panel.

Can I sew it on instead?
Yes. Remove the hook backing with a seam ripper, then sew the patch on around the edge. Permanent, but no longer swappable.
