Suede-Finish Weightlifting Belt – A Straight Cut for Heavy Lifting
The Gym Generation suede-finish weightlifting belt is a straight leather belt at 9 mm thick, with a matte brown suede surface and black waxed edges. The consistent width gives your core a firm surface all the way round to brace against on squats, deadlifts and heavy strength training. With a blackened prong buckle and a single row of holes, available in sizes M to XXL.
For anyone after a straight strength-training belt with a look of its own, away from smooth black leather. Shipped from Switzerland.
What a Weightlifting Belt Does
A belt does not make you stronger on its own, but it gives your core something to press against. Take a breath before a heavy rep and brace against the belt: you build more pressure in your abdomen, and that pressure stabilises the core. That is what pays off on squats, deadlifts and heavy compound lifts, when your upper body has to stay upright and tight.
A Straight Cut for Even Support
The belt runs the same width along its full length. Front and back, you get the same firm surface to press against, instead of support that sits only across the lower back. That straight build is the standard shape for heavy compound lifts, where the core needs holding from every side.
9 mm Leather for Maximum Support
At 9 mm this is one of the thickest and stiffest belts in our range. The leather barely gives under load, so what you press against stays where it is instead of flexing away from you. That is what counts on very heavy sets, where the core needs firm resistance all round. If you are after something more flexible and more adaptable, our 6 mm models are the more comfortable option.
Suede Finish With Black Waxed Edges
The matte brown suede finish is what gives this belt a look of its own. The edges are waxed black and set a quiet contrast against the brown surface, and the printed Gym Generation logo finishes it off. A belt that clearly stands apart from the smooth black models.
Blackened Prong Buckle With a Single Row of Holes
The matte blackened prong buckle closes the belt firmly and picks up the dark edges instead of catching the light. The single row of holes sets the fit, so the belt stays where you put it and does not slip under load.
Built for the Heavy Compound Lifts
The belt is built for squats, deadlifts and heavy strength training, anywhere a stable core makes the difference. Powerlifting, bodybuilding or general strength work: on the big, heavy lifts it gives you the firm base to brace against.
Weightlifting Belt – Frequently Asked Questions
What does a weightlifting belt give you?
It gives your core a firm surface to brace against as you lift. That builds more pressure in your abdomen, which stabilises the core and gives you a firmer base on heavy compound lifts. The belt does not make you stronger by itself, but it gives you more stability under load.
How thick is the belt?
9 mm, which puts it at the stiff end of our range. Under a heavy load the leather holds its shape rather than folding, and that is what makes it a fit for powerlifting and very heavy compound lifts. For something a little more flexible, our 6 mm models are the better choice.
Is the suede finish real suede?
The belt is made from leather with a matte surface in a suede finish. That is what gives it its characteristic rough look, away from glossy smooth leather, combined with black waxed edges for contrast.
How does this differ from a contoured weightlifting belt?
This belt runs the same width along its full length, so the hold is even all the way round. A contoured weightlifting belt is wider at the back and narrower at the front, with the support concentrated across the lumbar area. That is why the straight shape is the usual choice on heavy compound lifts.
Which size do I need?
Measure your waist circumference at navel height and go by the size chart. If you fall between two sizes, the smaller one gives the firmer fit.
Which exercises is the belt suited to?
Above all squats, deadlifts and heavy compound lifts, where a stable core counts. For light training and isolation work you generally do not need it.
How do I care for the belt?
Wipe it with a slightly damp cloth and let it air dry. Do not soak leather, so it stays supple and holds its shape. You will find more models under our weightlifting belts.
