Leather Weightlifting Straps – 55 cm Band with a Suede Inner Face

Classic lifting straps in genuine leather, roughly 55 cm long and 4 cm wide. You put your hand through the sewn loop, pull it onto the wrist and wrap the loose end around the bar – the rough suede inner face bites, with no silicone panel and no padding involved. The load transfers into the leather instead of your grip, so the bar stays held when the forearms fade. Gym Generation logo embossed into the leather. Available in black and brown, sold as a pair.

Suede Inner Face Instead of a Silicone Panel

The inside of the band is rough suede. Wrapped around the bar, that fibrous surface catches and stops the leather creeping under load – the job a silicone panel does on the cotton models is done here by the material itself. The more you train in them, the more the leather works in and the firmer the wrap gets.

Single Loop, Nothing to Adjust

No Velcro, no buckle, no metal: the band has one sewn loop. Hand through, pull it onto the wrist, wrap the end around the bar. Nothing to set, nothing to readjust between sets, and no moving part that can fail. It is the simplest build in the range and the one with the fewest components.

No Padding at the Wrist

Worth knowing before you buy: this model is deliberately minimal. The 4 cm width spreads the pressure across the wrist, and the suede sits comfortably against skin, but there is no neoprene cushion between the leather and the joint. For most training that is fine and the direct contact is the point. If you want a cushion under maximal singles, take a padded cotton model instead.

Leather Ages Rather Than Frays

Leather is a natural material. It softens, takes the shape of your hand and develops a patina over the years rather than going thin and fuzzy the way woven fabric does. That is the trade against the cotton range: less comfort out of the box, more character in it once it is broken in.

Leather Lifting Straps – Frequently Asked Questions

Leather or cotton – which straps are better?
Different jobs. Leather is the most durable build, grips through the suede without any silicone, and gives you a direct feel at the bar. Cotton straps with neoprene padding are softer at the wrist and adjustable. Take leather for longevity and a direct hold, cotton for padding.

How do I put them on?
Push your hand through the sewn loop and pull it onto the wrist. Lay the loose end under the bar, wrap it two or three times around and pull tight. As you grip, roll the bar slightly towards you so the leather tensions. After a few sets it takes seconds.

Do I need to treat the leather?
No, and leather balm on the suede would be a mistake – conditioner smooths the nap, which is exactly the surface doing the gripping. Let them air out after training and keep them away from radiators. That is all the care they need.

Are they stiff at the start?
Yes, and that is normal for genuine leather. The first few sessions the band is firm and holds its shape; after that it softens and moulds. Do not judge the fit until you have trained in them a handful of times.

What is the difference between black and brown?
Only the finish – both are the same band, same suede, same loop, and you pick the colour on this page. The brown is a natural-looking leather that shows its patina sooner; the black stays visually consistent for longer.
