Evil Smiley Patch with Velcro – Glows in the Dark
The Evil Smiley patch is a glow-in-the-dark Velcro patch: black base fabric with the design applied in luminous paint, approx. 8 × 5 cm. Bright contrast in daylight, a green glow in the dark – no battery needed.
Battery-Free Glow-in-the-Dark Paint
The design uses phosphorescent pigment. It absorbs light energy, stores it and releases it in the dark as a green glow. A few minutes under a ceiling light are enough for the basic effect; direct daylight charges it far more strongly. The glow follows a curve: the first minutes after the lights go out are by far the brightest, then it tapers off and stays visible in a dark room for hours. The process is purely physical and can be repeated endlessly – every exposure to light recharges it.
Hook Backing for Loop Surfaces
The hook backing grips any loop surface: MOLLE backpacks with loop strips or a patch panel, caps with a loop front, gym bags, vests and jackets. Our backpacks come with the panel built in. Attaching and removing takes seconds, with no sewing – collect several patches from the patch collection and you can swap the design to suit the day without altering the gear itself.
The Design: Evil Smiley in Two States
The Evil Smiley comes from the tactical and airsoft scene, where it stands for dry, dark humour. The design plays on the switch between two states: by day it reads as a light smiley on black; at night the base fabric disappears and only the grinning face stays visible. The design is applied as a solid surface rather than embroidered, so the glowing area stays unbroken by stitch edges and the outlines of the eyes and grin stay sharp.
Evil Smiley Patch FAQ
Does the glow fade over time?
Not from charging itself – the cycles don't wear out the pigment. What sets the brightness each time is the charge beforehand: weak room light gives a weak glow, a day outdoors on your backpack gives the strongest.
Does the patch fit a backpack without a loop panel?
Not directly – it needs a loop counterpart. A self-adhesive or sew-on loop panel turns any smooth surface into a mount, on bags, jackets or in the car.
Can the patch handle rain and cold?
Yes. Fabric, design and hook and loop fastening are unaffected by moisture and low temperatures. After rain, take it off and let it air-dry so no moisture stays trapped under the hook side.
What else is a Velcro patch used for?
Backpacks, caps and bags for the gym and outdoors are the most common, plus airsoft and paintball gear, motorcycle jackets and work vests. Wherever there is a loop panel, the patch works as an interchangeable badge.
